Technical Writer

About Storj :

Storj Labs develops an open-source, decentralized cloud storage platform called Storj (pronounced storage) that is disrupting the cloud storage market. Rather than storing files in a data center, Storj works by encrypting and partitioning files, then sending the shards to a network of devices contributed by our global community—with active storage nodes on every continent except Antarctica. Our core target is selling to software developers and channel partners who get higher quality, privacy, and security at a fraction of the price. We are laying the groundwork for the future of decentralization and web 3.0.

Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, Storj is a global company with North American employees in California, Utah, Michigan and Georgia, and European employees in Germany and Bulgaria. The bulk of our engineering team is located in our Atlanta office in Atlanta Tech Village, while the majority of our marketing team and a portion of our engineering team is located in our Salt Lake City office at Impact Hub.

Storj is looking for an experienced Technical Writer to enable our community, as well as customer success, sales and marketing teams with excellent documentation. Knowing HTML, CSS, Javascript, Go Hugo, web CMS, etc., the ideal candidate will own our web presence and position us for success with a massive influx of customers. The position will work closely with our VP of Operations but report to our Director of Engineering within our engineering organization. While we don’t expect to you already be an expert in every technology we list, we are looking for people who have a demonstrated ability to learn, grow, understand requirements, and get stuff done.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can be a leader and an integral part of a unique, small, marketing team with a very promising technology startup. We have a strong commitment to strategic and creative excellence, with a mix of large strategic projects and daily tactical production design projects.

The sorts of things you’ll be doing:

– Writing documentation
– Writing tutorials and guides

We’re very remote friendly. Being a global team, we rely heavily on video conferencing and group chat software. Even many of our employees who work near a regional office work from home some days of the week, which helps ensure that scheduled activities and meetings are remote-work friendly and accessible to anyone working from home. Most internal company communication happens through Slack (mostly GIFs) and Google Hangouts (we have computers specifically dedicated specifically to video conferencing).

We host weekly lunch-and-learns where a team member presents and sometimes trains coworkers on a topic they’re passionate about. We do quarterly innovation weeks where developers are encouraged to spend a week and build exciting new products of their own creation, independent from existing roadmaps. All of our code goes through code review before getting merged, which is a wonderful opportunity to help engineers learn things they might not know and improve their skills.

All employees are offered excellent benefits including healthcare, dental, vision, and equity.

The interview process will require that you demonstrate the ability to solve problems with programming via a paid off-site homework problem where we give you a representative problem and ask you to solve it.

We would love to have you join us!
